THE HOUSE RULES
THE GUESTS AT HOUSE OF BISE BESPOKE
Dear Guest, I am thankful you have chosen to stay in my home. I personally designed this house to attract those I’d like to have at my dinner table—appreciating the ceremony of good food, sincere people, lively discourse and well-mannered. And for the most part I have succeeded. I have hosted artists, business and medical professionals, bright students, entrepreneurs and many international travelers; all of whom have added to the energy of the house. (Yet, I am still waiting for Fran Lebowitz, Ricky Gervais and George and Amal to book a room in the house, too.) That being stated there have been a slight few who have required a little guidance on how to reside in a “shared home,” including understanding the culture of Airbnb.
QUIET HOURS Sunday through Thursday: Quiet time starts at 11PM. Every guest is on a different schedule, so this appointed hour appears to be the best time for the house to rest. If you need to Facetime or make a late call, please do so in the lounge off the kitchen. Friday through Sunday morning: This will vary based on who is in the house; but let’s shoot for 2am. Please.
COOKING I want you to cook in my home! However, I need you to be mindful that other guests will be cooking, too. So please do not take over the kitchen for many hours, and please clean-up after you have prepared your “plat du jour.” However in the morning, I will do the breakfast dishes. Please just set you plates and cups in the sink. And since I love a good “dinner party,” if you’d like to host one for your friends in the area, I’d be open to such a soiree, as long as it is okay with the other guests residing in the home.
BATHING ROOMS I clean the bathrooms daily. But I would appreciate it if you’d tidy your personal items and flush the lieu. I have also provided disinfected wipes in each bathroom for you to use as you wish and there’s bathroom spray, too. Now if you have a need to shower after midnight, please use the bathroom on the first floor, so it does not disturb the guests on the second level who have to arise early for work.
PRIVACY I would appreciate it if you would keep your bedroom door closed at night. And if you notice another guest is trying to have a private moment in one of the shared spaces, please be mindful not to have a raging conversation with that guest, unless invited to do so.
PLEASE REMOVE SHOES (bring house shoes if you must wear shoes in the home.)
SMOKING Yep, a bad habit and I partake. So please do not smoke in the house. I’ve tried to make the front porch nice for all kinds-of smokers. Smoking is only on the porch.
Please do enjoy the house, Heather
